Your day should have been planned the night before. Write out all the things that you need to do the following day at the end of each day in order to achieve your goals. Pull together phone numbers, relevant paperwork, and all the information you will need.

Make sure to prioritize the list. Number each item and do the nasty jobs first. It is usually tempting to do the easy jobs first. But then again, the thought of doing the nasty jobs will hang over you as you do the easy stuff. Think how good you’ll feel when the nasties are out of the way and how motivated you’ll feel.

Stick to your list. As you go, tick off each item and don’t let yourself be distracted. Handling the telephone and that emails as they come in is quite the temptation. What you can do is switch off the email program and plug out the phone and let it go to voice mail since it is hard to ignore. Make an agreement with yourself to check for messages every two hours or so.

Remember the Three “D’s”! This stands for do it, delegate it, or dump it. Handle each piece of paper only once. Either do something about it now, delegate it to someone else or chuck it in the trash. Also, if you can actually do it, then that’s the only time you should do it. Considered as the thief of time is procrastination so you should avoid this since putting things off until another time or until you have had time to think about it is so easy. You should do it now!

How to plan your leisure time. Activities that need you to be at a certain place at a certain time is what you should take up. Book a fitness class or an appointment with a personal trainer instead of just going to the gym.

Be honest with yourself. When you ask yourself “Is what I’m doing now getting me to where I want to get to?” and the answer is no, then change what you are doing.
